AMAC supports regional Start-Up Up2-Tec in growing their European business
As of September 1st, 2021, Dr. Michael Effing from AMAC supports the Aachen-based Start-Up Up2-Tec in developing and strengthening their European business opportunities in the Aerospace, Automotive and Engineering sectors.
Founded in 2013 as a spin-off of Aachen’s Universities, Up2-Tec offers fast-prototyping services, tooling and further services in upscaling until production in connection with other institutes and Start-Ups on the RWTH Aachen University Campus, Germany.
Specialized in the field of individual lightweight structures, fibre composite products and technologies, Up2-Tec delivers your ideas from the CAD design to finished production of prototypes and small series in a time frame of 6 to 8 weeks. This includes dimensioning laminate lay-ups based upon stiffness and strength calculation covering a specific design idea. Parallel design and manufacturing processes may be defined and transferred to their tool and composite production. Due to the direct attachment of development, design and production, any design changes and optimizations may be incorporated in short ways to be efficient and flexible at the same time.
Roman Holtz, CEO of Up2-Tec GmbH: “Some examples of our cooperation network projects are the development of an lightweight autonomic transport unit with cargo space and outer composite shell parts, the so-called „self-driving transport unit“, where the automated part was done in cooperation with PEM Motion. Other examples are placed in prototype development and pre-series production of car body elements and safety applications for the e-mobility sector used in a city e-taxi, the e.Go life and the e.Go Mover an automated-driven shuttle. Lightweight composite parts like the battery safety cover, intrusion provider, sandwich roof structure and screen frames or free-shaped GFK cockpits and panels are successfully used in pre-series.
